Local Akron based startup Segmint received the maximum $100,000 grant awarded by the Glide Innovation Fund at Lorain County Community College on Thursday. Segmint has developed a unique and incredibly accurate method of delivering highly targeted advertisements to internet surfers. The Great Lakes Innovation and Development Enterprise (GLIDE), founded in 2001, is a comprehensive regional innovation center, resource hub, and business incubator that supports all facets of the start-up, development, and growth of enterprises.
"We are honored to be one of the four companies to receive this reward from GLIDE." said Nathan Shahan, Co-founder and Vice President of Product Development. "GLIDE is a class organization with a genuine commitment to the advancement of enterprise here in northeast Ohio.”
Joining Segmint in receiving honors from GLIDE were Collaborative, CutterCroix and Axiom. GLIDE issues grants to promising startup companies on a quarterly basis who demonstrate a creative concept, solid business plan and the expertise to grow the business.
Segmint plans to use the funds to further develop their technology, patent portfolio and prepare for a pilot launch of their concept in late 2008.
